Debra Scacco Print$500
Original Framed artwork by Debra Scacco. "Los Angeles River Arroy Seco Study". Ink on Dura-lar 9"x 9". 2016. Artwork includes a studio visit with the artist. Value of $1,100. Works by Debra Scacco address the contradiction of collective isolation as a result of contemporary migration. Texture and repetition are key elements in her work, often relying on an aggregation of marks to create a unified whole. Scacco rationalizes emotion and history into rules of execution. Every creative action is the result of a concept-led system of making. These parameters provide the necessary structure to continually re-construct the past into a form that may assist the present and future: each element of time processed and therefore executed in its own distinct way. Exploring placelessness in relation to time and memory, the emotional significance of personal history is a catalyst for continual investigation of geography and environment, both actual and constructed.
Photo Print On Wood$50
"Climbing the Mountain" by artist Terry Hastings 8"x12" Photo on Wood Here is Earth. Whereas Wind is about movement and electricity, Water is about fascination and dreams, Earth is about struggle and perserverance. It is the densest and most difficult medium to move through, around, or against. But hand in hand with struggle is Hope. At the end of the photos you will see how I present this set of photos. I have them dye-infused onto metal as I usually have done but then I beat the piece with hammers and screwdrivers and forks and awls. I want the Art to appear to have gone through the same struggle the subject has. Also, when hanging the pieces I want the horizon to be flat or square and not necessarily the art itself.

Mel Roberts Print$850
Mel Roberts "Rich Indio" 1963. Singed and numbered. Estate Edition 11/50. 16" x 16" Mel Roberts (American, b. 1923) is a photographer and activist who captured the spirit of the California Dream that lured thousands of gay men to the Golden State in search of freedom and opportunity after World War II. The visual freedom expressed by Roberts, as an openly gay man in a time of oblique censorship, has highly inspired a tolerance for homoerotic portraiture. Here, Roberts depicts his friend Rich Thomson in Indio, California, a desert resort town commonly referred to as "the Hub of the Valley." Unlike other physique photographers, Roberts' subjects were not the perfectly proportioned bodybuilders, hustlers, or professional models common in the magazines of the time. His models were natural, "everyday" young men who Roberts, first and foremost, had to know personally before photographing. Roberts' work is also distinguished by his interest in fashion styles and trends in pop culture. His models often wear cut-off jeans, flower-power bell-bottoms, and love beads. They pose by the backyard pool on op-art towels and recline in bed on zebra-print sheets.

"Andy" Framed Print$500
Value of $900. "Andy" framed Polychrome Archival print. 32" x 21" . 2015. The work is about the act of looking; the images are printed in a CMYK ben-day dot separation so the closer you get to the image to get a better look at the beautiful nude body, the harder it is to see the print. It turns into dots. One has to step away to see the image and, as such, a productive tension emerges between our desire and our ability to satisfy it. This work is sometimes a single image, sometimes a diptych. The other body of work Paul Baker Prindle is known for are large images taken at sites across the US where gay men, lesbians, and trans folks were murdered. This work has been published/talked about on NPR, Out, Advocate, Towleroad, and other places. The work looks very mundane and purposefully. I'm interested in the challenges of the site, questions about what the photograph can actually tell us and what it purports to tells us, memorial, the connections between sex and death.
