With his obsession of pop culture and his penchant for matchbook painting, Dug Paxton has created a niche in the art industry that allows his creativity to flourish. Dug's imagination was sparked when he began using scraps from his 11x14 art board to paint mini-tattoos and portraits. Those soon morphed into the beloved micro-portraits that have become his passion, alongside tattooing.
Dug has been drawing in one capacity or another since he was very young, but it wasn't until beginning his apprenticeship in a tattoo shop that he began to develop his own style; loose and heavily based on traditional American tattooing. Although there are many artists who Dug admires: Skottie Young, Alex Ross, Bill Watterson, Mike Rooth; he is inspired most by humor and a desire to elicit a response from his audience.
Dug has a full house with his children: Aoife, Finnian, Declan, Rizzo and Giggs his Boston Terriers, Shoshanna his cat, and his amazing wife Sherry.
